Quart de Poblet (Valencia), Spain
10 February 2026
The Green B-LEAF project will officially launch its Transnational Network and Community of Practice (CoP) on 12 February 2026 in Quart de Poblet, Spain. The event will bring together representatives of local authorities, project partners, and practitioners from across the Mediterranean region to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation on green participatory budgeting and climate-resilient local governance.
The event will be dedicated to the Community of Practice and focused on peer learning, knowledge exchange, and collaborative work. During the event, the participants will get the chance to explore how participatory budgeting, green budget tagging, and citizen engagement can be effectively used as tools to support environmental action and sustainable local development at municipal level.
During the event, the Green B-LEAF partnership will present the project’s objectives, methodology, and expected results, followed by the formal introduction of the Community of Practice framework. A series of best practice presentations from participating territories will review concrete experiences in participatory budgeting and green initiatives. The addition of interactive workshops will gather the CoP members to jointly define priorities for the network and test green participatory budgeting tools through hands-on exercises.
Participatory budgeting is a key instrument to strengthen local democracy and ensure that public investments respond to citizens’ needs while addressing climate challenges. Hosting the Green B-LEAF Community of Practice in Quart de Poblet reflects our commitment to open government, sustainability, and active citizen participation
